Life History Research on Intergenerational Transmission¡¯s Progress of Poverty: Centered from 30 to 40 Age Group, Self-support Program Participants

Abstract
The object of this study is to understand process of Intergenerational Transmission of Poverty(ITP) through in-depth interview with the poor, experienced poverty in childhood, still needy people in adulthood despite having the ability to work. Research question is how does poverty of the parents generation impact on poverty of child`s adulthood. The flow of the research methods was to set the way, after selecting of life history research methods, selection of study participant, data collection by the semi-structured interview method, data analysis through a chronological analysis method and constant comparison method, and finally presenting the material. In this study, 10 people were selected from 30 to 40 age group and have been participating in the self-support program. After studying the life history of the participants, it has been analyzed that there are many reasons of ITP in a variety of contexts. We have explored home environment, educational environment in childhood, and work experience, marriage experience in adulthood and other individual factors and the benefit experience to social welfare. We have investigated transfer path and transfer type of ITP. Finally, although generalization of the findings was not the ultimately purpose, We suggested some practical and policy challenges.
